For your bidding pleasure is this Mid 1970's Orvis Boron/ Graphite Powerflex Fly Rod. This rod measures 9' and is a two piece rod made for #9 line. The butt is made of boron and the tip is made from graphite, weighing in at 4oz. The rod has information stamped to the end of the butt stating size rod type and weight with "0881" inscribed at the bottom. Boron is a stiff material five times stronger than steel, more expensive and heavier than graphite this rod only saw production shortly starting in 1978. Saltwater fly fisherman still use these boron/ graphite rods today, however back in 1978 saltwater fly fishing was still a new concept. This rod in in excellent condition and comes with the manufacturer original pipe case stating the dimensions of the rod on its face.
