We attempt to take as deatiled an Image as possible of both the Obverse and Reverse of all coins and currency, While we try and accurately grade each coin, as coin grading is subjective, we encourage you to asses the pictures yourself and make a grading judgement yourself. We always 100% guarantee authenticity, but we do not guarantee any specific grade, nor do we guarantee that NGC or PCGS or any other grading company will agree to grade the coin. We strive for your repeat business and do everything we can to accurately photograph and describe the coin/currency.
AUCTION HIGHLIGHT First, for those unfamiliar with the 1926-d Buffalo, it is the poorest struck Buffalo in the entire series. It is noted in R. S. Yeoman’s "A Guide Book of United States Coins", that the 1926-d is the hardest date to find fully struck. Almost all have no 3 dimensional horn and many have no horn at all. As a second source Quoting Q. David Bowers right off of the PCGS Price Guide home page for Buffalo Nickels : " Indeed, certain issues of the Denver and San Francisco mints in the 1920s are nearly always weakly struck, with 1926-D being particularly egregious in this regard." That being said, this example is "FULLY STRUCK" It has a wonderful strike. Strong horn and head of the buffalo. Dynamite Obverse as well. Besides the almost unheard of Full Strike it has wonderful colorful toning. It has superior eye appeal and is in my opinion one of the best if not the best struck 26-d I have ever seen let alone auctioned. The Wholesale Greysheet lists an average struck ms65 at $3650. Estimated Value $5000
