<B>RAINBOW OBSIDIAN FREEFORM</B></I><BR> <I>Mexico</B></I><BR>Rainbow obsidian is volcanic silica glass, differing from regular obsidian in that the lamellar crystallites orientated parallel to the flow structure to produce the ethereal colored banding observable here. Shades of green, yellow, purple, blue and brown swirl across its surface. Artfully carved and polished to better highlight the natural patterns formed by the narrow colored strata. Also known as "fire" or "iris" obsidian, it is regarded in crystallographic metaphysics to act as a particularly powerful aid to meditation, helping the user to combat shock, fear or barriers.
