R.P. Bruff New York Derringer Pistol with Silver Banding
Active circa 1858 - 1878, Richard Bruff and his brothers were makers of hardware and rifles, in addition to being Deringer copyists. Dovetailed blade front and notch rear sights, with the top flat stamped "R.P. BRUFF" in an arch over "N.Y." and "CAST STEEL", scroll engraving on the breech and tang and a pair of silver bands on the breech. Additional scroll engraving is present on the lock and hammer, with burst patterns on the screws and bolster. One piece Schnabel tip stock, with silver furniture, engraved trigger guard, accent and inscription plates and a teardrop buttplate on the checkered bird's head grip.

Condition: Fine. Faint brown color is visible on the barrel, which is turning a gray patina with mild handling marks, and the lock and hammer show a darker finish, with areas of brown. Mild pitting is visible overall. A small chip is absent from the tang, and the hammer spur has been mended. Stock is very good, with mild pressure dents, scratches and varnish loss. Lock is mechanically sound.
