Robert Gallon (British 1845 - 1925) Oil Painting on board depicting the old bridge at Pearlborough. Scene includes people in a stream, bridge, boat, trees, flowers, a house and rolling hills. Signed lower right. Titled "Old Bridge Perlborough". Measures 13 3/4" h X 19 7/8" w + 2 1/4 matte and frame. Robert Gallon was a landscape and coastal painter who lived in St John’s Wood, London. He traveled extensively throughout the British Isles to paint his subjects, which included recognized views of England, Scotland and Wales. Gallon’s paintings can vary greatly in style, ranging from those with broad, loose and painterly rendered compositions strokes to others with more detail and precise “tight” brushwork. Gallon painted in a realistic style similar to that of Benjamin Will.
