R-350 Electron burst encoder/message puncher, measuring approximately 3" x 4" x 1.5", which uses standard 35mm photographic film as the storage medium for an encoded message. The numeric buttons punch corresponding holes into the film, which would then be fed into a slot on the spy radio set's burst transmitter. These simple mechanical devices were supplied with Russian spy radio sets of the early 1950s, such as Electron and the R-350 (Orel). Includes a piece of modern 35mm film for demonstration purposes.
