<B>Queen Victoria of England Document Signed</B></I> "<I>Victoria RI</B></I>". One page, 15.5" x 11.25", manuscript document, Court at St. James, January 20, 1860. A military commission, in part: "...To our Trusty and Well beloved Peter Mathews, Gent. Greeting! We do by these presents constitute and appoint you to be Assistant Quarter Master in Our Artillery Company...whereof Our Most dearly beloved Francis Albert Augustus Charles Emmanuel, Prince Consort..." Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria, is mentioned in this document, dated the year before his untimely death of typhoid fever. His demise sent Victoria into a ten-year self-imposed seclusion and she would mourn him for the rest of her life. This document is in very fine condition with an intact paper seal and is double matted with a 7" x 10" color portrait of Victoria in her early years as Queen and framed to an overall size of 30" x 17".
