<Our item number 119904><B>Queen Victoria and Princess Louise.</B> &#40;1819-1901&#41; The longest-reigning British monarch &#40;1837-1901&#41;; by the time of her death, she was the figurehead of a vast empire upon which, it was said, &#34;the sun never set.&#34; The Victorian Age was named after her, and due to the marriage of her daughters into other royal families, many of the crowned heads of Europe trace their lineage to Victoria.<BR><BR>LS &#40;Victoria R&#34;&#41; as Queen, during the first year of her reign, 1½pp plus integral address leaf, on mourning-bordered stationery, 9&#34; x 7¼&#34;, Kensington Palace, 1837 June 27. Very good; several small fold repairs, one each touching the &#34;I&#34; in &#34;Victoria&#34; and one letter of the closing; with two black seals on the address leaf. To the King of Sardinia, regarding the &#34;<I>decease of His late Majesty, My most Honoured and Beloved Uncle</I> [William IV] <I>together with my Accession to the Throne of this Kingdom</I>,&#34; and renewing the credentials of the British minister to Sardinia, Sir Augustus John Foster. The eighteen-year-old Queen adds in her hand above her signature, &#34;<I>Sir my Brother, Your Majesty&#39;s good Sister</I>.&#34; With a 9¾&#34; x 5¾&#34; steel engraving of Victoria by Sartain.<BR><BR>Accompanied by an ALS &#34;Louise Lorne,&#34; 4pp, 4&#34; x 6&#34;, Dornden, Tunbridge Wells, n.y. Dec. 2nd. To Mr. Collins, regarding her brother&#39;s bad leg. Fine.
