Signed book: Windsor: A Description of the Castle, Park, Town and Neighbourhood. First edition, limited issue, one of 100 Large Paper copies (this being copy no. 8). London: Seeley & Co., 1886. Hardcover, 13 x 17.75, 91 pages. Prominently signed and inscribed on a free end page in ink to Prince Albert's biographer, "To Sir Theodore Martin, K. C. B., from Victoria R. I., Christmas 1885." Autographic condition: very good to fine, with overall foxing to the signed page. Book condition: VG/None, with wear to spine, moderate foxing throughout, and cracked hinges. Martin was a Scottish poet, biographer, and translator who may be best known for his Life of the Prince Consort (1874–80), the writing of which was entrusted to him by Queen Victoria; Martin's work won him the queen's enduring friendship. An impressive, oversized volume inscribed to a noteworthy individual.
