Handwritten document reads, ''William Reed, Private of the 36th Company of Royal Marines, having been tried by a General Court Martial held at Woolwich on the 28th of September 1865 for breach of the 61st Article of War and having been sentenced to undergo a punishment of Penal Servitude for five years...5 October 1865''.
