Wife of Emperor Khai Dinh and mother of Bao Dai who was the last 'Queen Mother' of Vietnam (1890-1980). Two items: a vintage matte-finish 3.75 x 5.25 seated portrait of Queen Mother Doan Huy, signed in the lower border in ballpoint with her official stamp; and a TLS in Vietnamese,, two pages, 7.75 x 10.25, December 5, 1972. Letter to Hans Lüder Temmen of Germany, in part (loosely translated): "Known to be a flower-loving student, he was also in good spirits in the country, I was very impressed with Ong and followed his will in the July 31, 1972…Our country of Vietnam was under the mandate of Quan-Chu from the beginning of the year, it was very small, and it was very popular. Today, under the bombardment, to a Thai-Hau outside 84 years old, day and night reciting, only know how to make a request for the Vietnamese people to have a Thai-army life."
