The King's doctors recommended that he be moved to the coast, where he would be exposed to sea air. On Saturday February 9th 1929 Queen Mary and the King arrived at Bognor in West Sussex for thirteen weeks of recuperation for His Majesty. Other royal visitors during their stay included the Prince of Wales and the Duke of York (the future Edward VIII and George VI), and the King's grand daughter, Princess Elizabeth (Queen Elizabeth II).
