<B>Queen Maria II of Portugal Manuscript Document Signed.</B></I> Four pages (on two attached leaves) including various endorsements, 10.5" x 14", on vellum, September 6, 1849, in Portuguese. Dona Maria is notable for a public health act to curb the spread of cholera in her country as well as instituting policies to increase the levels of education in Portugal. She is remembered as a good person, always with her country's best interests at heart. This document is in fine condition and even has the hanging silk ribbon and paper seal still intact.
