Queen Anne style Flintlock sword/pistol with silver mounts and Latin inscriptions on blade. The piece measures 37-1/4” overall the blade measures 32”, the pistol portion 10” overall with 3-3/4” cannon type barrel of approx 60 cal smooth bore. The blade is attached to the barrel by a forged lug and a screw thru blade into breech. The pistol shows no name or proofs. The blade is inscribed in fancy scrolls and on left reads“Pro Chfisfo A Pollenis” and “Tohmmi Bemfgi“. On reverse is also a fancy long inscription that is more difficult to make out. The left side of the pistol stock near the breech shows a brake and old repair with woodnailed back otherwise grip is good with carving around tang in shell design. The silver mounts show a mask butt and a fancy plaque at wrist. The metal is in good condition with some light pitting and erosion and in need of light cleaning. Consignor notes mention Ireland.
