Interior of top drawer with handwritten note inscribed This lowboy was given to me in 1930 by Mrs. Mary Adams Peabody Howes who was born in Thomaston Maine, April 15, 1836. It was given to her grandfather Peabody when he was a young man, by an old man. Mrs. Howes grandmother Peabody before she was married went to the Ball given by General Knox when he opened his mansion in Thomaston and danced with Gen. Knox. The grandchildren were taught to count by the ribs in the fan on the front of the lowboy./ Mary Dole Bremer Wilson.
