(Warner Bros., 1937) Designed by Milo Anderson. This ensemble consists of four costumes: the first is a beautiful teal blue period coat ornamented with gold bullion embroidery, worn by Bobby Mauch as the Prince. Includes a teal blue brocade sleeveless over-cape trimmed with gray squirrel, matching under-tunic heavily embellished with bullion trim and gold metal studs, accented with blue stones. Each piece has interior Western Costume labels, one of which reads “Bobby Mauch #2”. The second wardrobe piece is a pair of steel-blue rag shorts with beige, brown and burgundy inset patches, worn by Billy Mauch as the Pauper. Interior Western Costume label reads “Billy Mauch”. The third piece is a costume worn by both Billy and Bobby in their respective roles. Consists of a deep purple ribbed satin tunic with beige inserts on the sleeves, and interior Western Costume label reading “Billy Mauch 20315 #6”; accompanied with a gorgeous wine silk velvet cloak trimmed with white fur and gold bullion embroidery, with interior Western Costume label reading “Bobby Mauch #4 20280”. The final piece is a green velvet tunic with red velvet insets on sleeves, worn by Alan Hale as the “Captain of the Guard”. Tunic has front lace-up closure, and interior Western Costume label reading “Hale Double 20342” (double meaning an identical wardrobe piece for Hale). A spectacular ensemble of period costumes, the most complete collection from this film ever offered at auction.
