Full calf, gilt spine, 272pp. Williams was born in North Carolina, spent part of his childhood in Tennessee, then moved to Indiana. As a preacher for the Society of Friends, he travelled to nearly every part of the union east of the Mississippi, including some of the more southern parts. While most of his travels were to Northern centers in Pennsylvania, New York, and Maryland, the information on Southern Quakers is a rarety. [Howes W490]<p>Leather scuffed, front hinge partially separated. Heavy foxing of endpapers, only moderate on inner pages. Upper corner of gack cover broken, some insect and water damage to back. Binding tight. The free endpapers have birth and death notes for a few members of previous owner's family (Hall).
