This ceramic vessel is a quadrangular pear-shaped vase featuring a swelling lower body that tapers to a waisted, flared neck with a square-profile rim. The item is identified as being in the satsume style and is finished in a thick, rich flambe glaze. The coloration is predominantly a deep, mottled cobalt blue with prominent streaks and patches of purplish-red effects, achieved through a high-fire copper-red derivative technique. Where the glaze thins at the rim and along the vertical corner ridges, it transitions to a translucent brownish-olive or cream tone. The vessel sits on a short, slightly splayed square foot. The recessed base features an impressed six-character mark in seal script arranged in two vertical columns of three characters each, reading Da Qing Yong Zheng Nian Zhi. A horizontal line is visible circling the midsection of the vase, representing a firing seam where the two halves of the vessel were joined.
