This is a traditional Chinese child’s robe, likely from the late Qing to early Republic period (late 19th to early 20th century). The robe features a vibrant orange silk ground finely embroidered with figural roundels depicting children at play, surrounded by auspicious butterflies, blossoms, and birds—symbols of harmony, fertility, and celebration. The cuffs, hem, and collar are bordered with meticulously worked floral scrolls and wave motifs, executed in silk floss embroidery or woven brocade trim. Such garments were worn by children of elite families during ceremonial occasions, and also served as dowry or household display items. The piece remains in good condition with strong coloration and elaborate detailing, making it a fine example of period textile art.
