This circular carved jade medallion is fashioned from a single piece of pale celadon to off-white nephrite jade. The object features a hollow-bodied construction with intricate reticulated openwork on both faces. The obverse displays a central stylized Shou character signifying longevity, while the reverse features a central stylized Fu character signifying blessings. Both characters are surrounded by scrolling foliate motifs. The outer rim is decorated with a continuous diagonal rope-twist or gadrooned border. Provenance: obtained from Rob Michiels' auction in Brugge, Belgium
