This is a traditional Chinese lady’s robe from the late Qing to early Republic period, made of pink satin silk and embroidered with elaborate scenes of figures, gardens, pavilions, flowers, and birds. The embroidery is finely executed with multicolor silk threads, using various stitch techniques to create depth and realism in the depiction of narrative scenes. The borders and hem feature classic Chinese motifs such as ruyi clouds, floral scrolls, and wave-and-rock (hai shui jiang ya) patterns, symbolizing longevity and prosperity. The cuffs are crafted in contrasting yellow satin trimmed with black lace—a fashion detail that became popular during the early 20th century. The robe remains in good overall condition, with vibrant embroidery and minimal fading, making it a fine example of high-status women's attire from the transitional period of late imperial to modern China.
