Qing Dynasty Circa 1880-1900-made of fir wood, these plates were often used during wedding ceremonies. It was used to hold nuts and snacks. This is a Groom's plate. It is octagon shaped representing the eight great celestials of buddhism. The gold leaf designs on the plate's border indicates a wealthy new beginning. This plate has normal wear for it's age. It does have a slight separation at 1 joint. This plate is from Zhejiang and has the validation sticker on back. It measures approx. 11 1/2".
