This court necklace (known as chaozhu 朝珠) is composed of large white pearls interspersed with red and purple gemstones. The central pendant is set with a cabochon jewel mounted in gold, from which hang four strings representing the Buddhist rosary’s symbolic structure. In the Qing dynasty, such necklaces were part of formal court attire for emperors, empresses, and high-ranking officials, derived from Tibetan Buddhist prayer beads. The elegant color contrast and symmetrical arrangement embody the refined ceremonial style of the imperial court.
