This fabulous small chest with mandarin red decor is from the Qing Dynasty. The decor is typical of the Ming Dynasty coloration. The carvings are Bas Relief. This chest was used for storing small precious items. It has all the orginal hardware and is in excellent condition. This extremely rare piece still has the export decal, showing that it is over 100 years old. The chest measures 18.5" in height and 12" across the top and approx. 9" deep. It is made of fir and is from Shanghai, made between 1720 and 1800! This chest was purchased directly from a home in the Fujian Province.
