QUARTER PLATE TINTYPE OF MOUNTED CAVALRY OFFICER. Anonymous, quarter plate tintype of a dashing bearded Union Captain on his mount. He sports a tam-o-shanter style non-regulation cap, highboots, and his saddle holsters are clearly visible at the front of his McClellan. In the distance another figure and the wheels of a wagon or limber are visible. Found in the Pittsburg, PA area. Housed in a full leather case. A great cav image. Plate bright, with a couple of lines of "bubbling" present along the right side and below the horse's head. All appear solid and in no danger of flaking. Case with old repair of spine.
