Esteemed Russian composer (1840–1893) whose colorful, dramatic, and expressive works represent the epitome of the Russian Romantic tradition and take a place among the most beloved staples of the concert repertory. ALS in French, signed “P. Tchaikovsky,” one page, 4.5 x 7, February 28, 1893. Tchaikovsky follows up from a previously sent package. In full: “You ask me about where the fragment I sent you is taken from. Unfortunately I’ve completely forgotten what musical phrase I communicated to you. Please let me know.” A few stray ink marks near signature, and a light overall shade of toning, otherwise fine condition.
