Esteemed Russian composer (1840–1893) whose colorful, dramatic, and expressive works represent the epitome of the Russian Romantic tradition and take a place among the most beloved staples of the concert repertory. Original 4.25 x 6.5 cabinet bust portrait, signed at the bottom of the image in black ink, “P. Tchaikovsky, 7 Juin 1893.” Published by a Russian studio. In fine condition, with scattered surface scuffing, erased notation in lower border, and mounting remnants to reverse. Tchaikovsky signed photos are fantastically rare, and this is the first uninscribed example we have encountered.
