Put Together Your Own Dinosaur From The Excavated Bones
<Our item number 112125>Put Together Your Own Dinosaur From The Excavated Bones. This is an opportunity to assemble a dinosaur skeleton from the loose bones just the way the paleontoligist do to create a free-standing mount. In order to offer assistance, there is a wire mount of the shape of the dinosaur, a Psittacosaurus, and also some pictures included of another specimen that was similarly mounted to show what bones go in what location. Psittacosaurus is a very important dinosaur that lived between 120-130 million years ago in Liaoning China. Psittacosaurus is important as being the oldest ancestor of the famous horned dinosaurs such as Triceraptops. Psittacosaurus did not have horns but did posses a horned beak and bony Jugals (back of the upper jaw) which are characteristic of only ceroptopsian (horned) dinasaurs. Psittacosaurus was a very small dinosaur, being only 4-5 feet long as an adult. The specimen offered here would be about 33-34 inches long when put together, making it a juvenile. Approximety 70-75 percent of the dinasaur is present here as real bone. When making a complete mount, Paleontologists make casts of the missing bones to complete the specimen. Most dinosaurs in museums that are real usually contain only 10-40 percent real bone. The real bones of this Psittacosaurus can be glued to the metal mount with the missing bones left vacant or shaped with clay and completed. This depends on how much work the new owner is willing to put in. This specimen is fairly complete, missing most of one hand, a couple of claws on one of the legs, miscellaneous parts of some of the body bones, all of the delicate neural spines, and some of the bones, while present, are not complete. The all important skull, 4x3.5 inches, is in good condition, with even a couple of teeth visible. More teeth are undoutedly still hidden under the matrix. This specimen would be ideal for the collector who could not afford many thousands of dollars to buy a professionally mounted speci men and would enjoy the process of creating his own dinosaur presentation.

Add $75 for domestic shipping.
Estimated Value $2,500-4,000.

Our item number 112125
<IMAGES>

</IMAGES>
