A very lovely antique purple transferware T. Mayer Staffordshire tea set in the Canova pattern that dates from 1826 - 1838.

The set includes the covered tea pot, covered sugar, creamer and waste bowl.

Teapot is marked with the maker's mark, Canova, T. Mayer, Stoke Upon Trent. It has some light crazing; is in remarkable condition with no chips or cracks that we could find except for 2 small chips on the cover's edge. Measures 6 1/2" to the top of the finial on the cover and 11 1/4" from spout to handle.

Covered sugar is marked with the maker's mark, Canova, T. Mayer Longport. The cover has a couple of chips on the edge, the largest of which shows mostly on the under side. Bowl has a few nicks in the glaze along the top edge and a small chip on the inside edge. Handles have a few small chips, mostly on the under side. Inside of the bowl has some light spotting. There are no cracks or crazing. Measures about 6 1/4" tall to finial on cover, 7 1/2" from handle to handle x 5".

Creamer is marked Canova, T. Mayer Stoke Upon Trent. There is a crack near the handle and another one about 1" away on the side. This piece has some light crazing and spots on the bottom, inside, we could find no chips.

The waste bowl has 2 small chips on the top rim, inside edge and has some light discoloration. Measures 5 1/2" top diameter and is 2 7/8" tall.
