1871, Illinois. $1000 bond bearing 8% interest. Gray/Black. Red $1000 underprint at center, attached blue adhesive revenue at bottom left. Coupons attached at bottom. Signed at bottom right as President by GEORGE W. PULLMAN (1831-1897). Industrialist; Inventor. Pullman's Palace Car company was organized in 1867 after public acceptance of his "Pioneer" sleeping car. Guided by Pullman's business acumen, the company grew to become the greatest railroad car construction company in the world. Punch cancelled over the entire bond, Pullman's signature is unaffected. Small split at fold intersections. Fine.
