Presentation lanterns such as this nice example were given as gifts to commemorate retirements or to reward special service. This particular presentation lantern belonged to the Pullman Company, which was founded by George Pullman in 1862. He operated the company until his death in 1897, at which point Robert Todd Lincoln, son of Abraham Lincoln, became president. Clear glass globe, 5” tall, is intact and pristine with “P. Co.” etched in ornate script. The burner pot, which screws in from the underside of the lantern bell, is marked “E. Miller & Co. Made in U.S.A.” on the wick screw and stamped “The Adams & Westlake/ Company/ Pat. Apr. 26. 64./ Chicago Ill.” on the underside of the pot. Nickel plated bras bell bottom wire frame. Embossed “Pullman” on bell. Intact bail. - Jacobitz Collection -59878
