Pudding Stone Slab from South Dakota
Great slab of Black Hills South Dakota Jasper Puddingstone.
Jasper puddingstone is a conglomerate. The Jasper pebbles do not touch each other and are scattered throughout the tightly cemented sand matrix. Puddingstones hardness and coherence made it idea for grinding corn by the Native American people. Common uses today range from decor to jewelry to architectural uses.
This is a hard stone that cabs and polishes well.
This particular specimen has been slabbed but not polished (photographed wet to show color and pattern). Outside matrix has been left natural. Would take a beautiful polish.
