Folding ladder rear sight graduated to 1,300 yards with the base graduated from 1-4. The top of the receiver and barrel at the breech are marked with a Prussian (German) "Crown/V" proof signifying the rifle was captured by the Germans from the French during the Prussian-Franco War in 1871. Below the "crown/V" on the receiver is also an "S", significance unknown. The left side of the frame is marked with the patent and address marking. Very fine. The barrel retains 90% original blue finish thinning to a brown. The remaining metal surfaces retain 80% original case colors showing some minor spotting (mostly on the buttplate). The blade front sight is a replacement. The wood is very fine with some filled holes behind the receiver and some scattered minor handling marks.
