Provincial mahogany cased Grandfather Clock, the arched hood encloses a similar shaped brass dial with spandrelled detail, having a date aperture and seconds dial, a boss at the top arch inscribed William Nickals, Wells, (William Nickals of Wells is recorded as being baptized in May 1737, was the son of Isaac Nickals , a well known clock maker of Wells at that time and he is again mentioned in his father's will, circa 1751, he is also known to have made a number of watches, (reference pg 138, Norfolk & Norwich Clocks & Clockmakers by Clifford and Yvonne Bird) (see illustration)
