French poet and tragedian (1674–1762) whose skill rivaled that of Voltaire. Uncommon autograph endorsement, signed “Crebillon,” at the conclusion of a manuscript ode to the king, four pages on two adjoining sheets, 6.5 x 8.5, August 28, 1748. Crebillon approves the poem as written, which is to be printed at the expense of the king. In very good condition, with central vertical and horizontal folds, scattered staining, and some brushing to Crebillon’s endorsement and signature. Crebillon was appointed royal censor under Louis XV and had to approve the content of any works before they went to print. An interesting literary piece.
