Property of the Blanchard Family, Connecticut:A FEDERAL MAHOGANY AND MAHOGANY VENEER LINEN PRESS, probably Massachusetts, circa 1800. In three parts, the cornice with three turned urn-form finials above frieze, the middle section with two recessed panelled doors opening to four sliding shelves, the lower section with a slide over two short drawers and two long drawers on French feet joined by a shaped skirt - 110 in high x 49 1/2 in wide x 22 in deep. Provenance: The underside of base inscribed in black paint: "T.F. Gadsen, Mt. Pleasant, near Charleston, S.C." The backboard marked "Miss Trapier, Washington, D.C.
