THE SINGLE FINEST KNOWN EXAMPLE,PR65+ RD. Only 9-10 Known. Rare Red Copper Pattern Half Dollar!! Rarity 7! 1871 Copper Indian Princess Half Dollar, Judd-1115, Pollock-1251, Low R.7, PR65+ Red. William Longacre's Indian Princess design, which was presumably executed by William Barber since Longacre died in 1869. Liberty is seated facing left holding a Liberty pole with one hand while the other hand rests upon a globe inscribed LIBERTY. Two flags rise behind her, one of which bears 13 stars. The obverse border also has 13 stars. The reverse is from regular issue dies. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. This is one of nine or 10 Judd-1115 patterns known, and only 2 of which are RED. FINEST KNOWN, TOP POP, of a miniscule known!. Significant reflectivity is seen in the fields on each side, which enhances the bright orange-rose surfaces. Fully struck throughout.
