Production Original Spongebob Check This Out Drawing
This original animation art pencil drawing was done for SpongeBob Squarepants. The notations are: GARY Sep EYES GE 12. Shake what your mother gave you Spongebob...The story takes place under the deep blue sea in Bikini Bottom, where SpongeBob resides. SpongeBob, who is a yellow, porous sponge, is your typical happy-go-lucky character, as he is always cheerful and enjoys making people laugh. Patrick Star, SpongeBob's neighbor who is a starfish, is your average children's show idiot, as he boasts knowing nothing and is often getting himself into ridiculous situations. Between the homes of these two lies the home of the miserable Squidward, a squid, who is known for being grouchy and playing tricks on SpongeBob and Patrick. Both SpongeBob and Squidward work at the Krusty Krab, a fast food business run by the greedy money-loving Mr. Krabs, a crab, the arch rival of the evil, possibly misunderstood, Plankton. Another neighbor, Sandy Cheeks, an athletic squirrel who normally wears an astronaut's space suit, was introduced in "Tea at the Treedome." She spends most of her time inventing and experimenting. Original "rough" animation drawing, in non-photo blue and black pencil. Spongebob's mouth and Gary's and Spongbob eyes are shaded in with blue pencil Overall size is a 12-field drawing that is 10 1/2" × 12 1/2" Excellent condition Traditional animation is a multi-step process which includes various types of art techniques. Drawings are a key part of the process, in which the animator creates the design and movement of the characters. Drawings are then transferred onto acetate cels (by hand-inking and/or photo copying) to create a production cel, which is then hand painted on the back side, using paint colors chosen and approved by the creator of the series. This drawing is ready to framed and matted. The animator's notations are shown at the bottom and top of the drawing. Gary's eyes are shown at the bottom right of the drawing in non-photo blue.
