Even a close look at the apparently rusted piping may not reveal to the viewer that the hollow pipes in this trompe l'oeil sculpture are actually made of wood.
Accomplished artist Hubert Landri has been creating work in turned wood for more than a decade, often bringing his expertise in metalsmithing to the process. His work has been exhibited in galleries in Europe and the United States. “This discipline allows me to combine various elements of different types and structure such as wrought iron, Damascus, titanium and wood. This taste for mixtures of substances leads me every time to personal connections and deeper into the creation of unique and unusual pieces.
"I have been working with wood since my youth. I started my work in wood creating sculptural pieces. In 2001, I discovered woodturning art at Journées Mondiales in Puy St Martin. the work that was presented there was of the highest quality and I was taken with what the artists were able to create in wood. It seemed to be a perfect union between the creative and the material. I was sure that this was the path that I wanted to take. In 2004 I began woodturning and I have had the opportunity to study with some of the great French artists (Gilbert Buffart, Jean François Escoulen, Alain Mailland, Christian Delhon, Yann Marrot, Australian artist Neil Scobie, and New Zealander Rolly Munro. And Israeli artist Eli Avisera. These various internships and encounters with other artists in field have allowed me to grow with my art. I have found that woodturning is the perfect vehicle for creation of my art pieces. It has allowed me to incorporate other elements of nature and structure, using forged steel, titanium, Damascus steel and wood combination. This mixture of materials in my work allows me create pieces that are distinctly different and unique. I am proud to have been awarded the “Peoples Award” from concourt Breville in 2010 and to have been invited to participate in this major exhibition in consecutive years since then."

Duquense Blvd., Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Remote bidding on-line is open. The live auction starts at 3:30PM EST on Saturday June 27th, 2015You must be pre-registered to bid online.

SHIPPING: After the purchase price has been paid in full and after the sale has been completed, property must be removed from the auction at the Buyer’s expense. The American Association of Woodturners will, as a service to Buyers, arrange to have the property packed, insured, and shipped via UPS at the request, expense and entire risk of the Buyer. Any claims will be between carrier and Buyer.

2. DISPUTES: The American Association of Woodturners shall designate the winning bidder after each item is auctioned. If a dispute arises between two or more bidders, the American Association of Woodturners reserves the right to reopen bidding. The American Association of Woodturner's designation of a buyer shall be final.
3. BIDDING & PRE-BIDDING: The American Association of Woodturners is providing internet and live bidding as a service to bidders. Bidders acknowledge and understand that this service may or may not function correctly the day of the auction. Under no circumstances shall a bidder have any claim against the American Association of Woodturners or anyone else if the internet service fails to operate correctly before or during the live auction.
4. The American Association of Woodturners has the right to accept or deny bidders from attending their auctions, both in person and online.
5. Online bidders agree and understand that they will not be invoiced and may not be able to pay until the entire, onsite auction is over. All purchases will be charged to your credit card immediately following the auction. Any other payment arrangement must be arranged and approved by the American Association of Woodturners a minimum of 48 hours prior to the auction.
