Pro - Slavery Letters to House Member S.S. Cox
Pro-Slavery Letters to Congressman S.S. Cox of Ohio. Two letters to this member of the House of Representatives from Ohio and fellow Anti-Abolitionist. The first item: ALS, two pages, 8" x 10" in pencil, n.p. Feb. 1, 1864. A well written outpouring from John Smith defining Lincoln's secretary of state as the destroyer of the southern people and the "devil". It goes on to suggest that his "crusade" is a personal vendetta against southern people and that he intentionally derailed peace between the North and South because "...he wanted to see their blood spilt." The second item, dated Sept. 16, 1863, is an outstanding two page piece of prose entitled The Contrast Treason and Patriotism Q outlining the "...schemes of Lincoln and the Devil" and "the despot and the traitor"; signed by its author John S. Trimble.

Shipping: Small Flat (view shipping information)
