The masthead is after Paul Revere's "Sword in Hand" design. Frontpage news from London: "The American prisoners at Forton had once more nearly effected their escape, but were prevented by the vigilance of the guards." Page 3 notice that John Hancock was chosen as Speaker of the General Assembly of Massachusetts; also, a listing by county of all of the members returned to the General Assembly. Page 4 has news of privateer activity; of the Massachusetts Lottery drawing needing to be delayed; and from the Continental Loan Office, a resolve that certain bills be taken out of circulation, namely "the whole Emissions of May 20, 1777, and Aprl 11, 1778." Also, a sixty dollar reward offered by Col. Moses Hazen for three French sailors who deserted from his regiment.
