Also, an announcement of the death of Lord Thomas Fairfax, proprietor of Northern Virginia; he had entrusted to a young George Washington the surveying and mapping of the Fairfax estate in the Shenandoah Valley. Page 3 has news of smallpox inoculations for the army, of British and Hessian deserters, and of the state of Vermont having relinquished claims to the eastern side of the Connecticut river. A page 4 article sings the praises of several men in public affairs: Robert Morris, General Lincoln, Mr. Livingston, etc. Also, news that a Congressional committee has "made a favourable report on the petition of certain persons claiming a tract of land...named Indiana," and more news regarding boundaries between Connecticut and Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
