Print of tapestry made in the 18th Century at the Royal Factory of the Gobelins: Bacchus and Ariane. Ariane sits in front of a drapery spread between two trees looking at Bacchus. A satyr, half man-half goat, presents her with a basket of grapes; behind him waits Bacchus' carriage pulled by two tigers and driven by a cherub. In the foreground, on the left, a young satyr drinks from a bottle next to metal vases lying on the ground. Behind the tress on the left there is a view of the sea. A thyrse and a tambourin are at the feet of Bacchus. Text on reverse of the page describes the scene in French. In good used condition with center fold as shown. Please ask questions, request additional photos and shipping costs before buying.
