Three pages of handwritten notes by Prince, signed within the text using his pseudonym "Jamie Starr," 5 x 8, Cavallo, Ruffalo & Fargnoli, no date. Headed "The Time," Prince writes the track listing— "Get It Up," "Girl," "After Hi School," "Cool," "Oh, Baby," and "The Stick"—and personnel credits for The Time's 1981 self-titled debut album. He writes the credits as follows: "Produced by Morris Day & Jamie Starr, Morris Day—Lead and background vocals, Terry Lewis—Bass, co-lead and background vocals, Jellybean Johnson—Drums, percussion, Monte Moir—Keyboards and vocals, Jesse Johnson—Guitar and vocals, Jimmy Jam—Keyboards and vocals, Additional background on 'Cool' done by various girlfriends, Recorded at Time Studio, Mixed at Hollywood Sound, Engineered and mixed by Jamie Starr." The second page reads, "(For Label Copy) All Jams published by Tionna Music." On the third page, Prince has drawn a bust-length sketch of a man and listed various times for "Western 500" and "Republic"; the notations in green ink are in an unknown hand. In fine condition, with paperclip impression to top left of note pages. From the collection of an early Prince insider. These seem to be the liner notes for The Time's 1981 self-titled debut album, which was produced and arranged by Prince under the moniker "Jamie Starr." The credits indeed list the studio as the fictional "Time Studio," although it was actually recorded in Prince's Kiowa Trail Home Studio in Chanhassen, Minnesota. The album was mixed at Hollywood Sound Recorders in Los Angeles in late April 1981. A desirable collection of handwriting from Prince in his role as The Time's 'secret' producer—as talented as he was a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Prince's meticulous hands-on style made him a truly prolific music producer with over 80 known credits to his name.
