Extremely rare British CD containing the complete 16-minute phone interview between Prince and Detroit disc jockey The Electrifying Mojo, which occurred following Prince’s birthday concert at Detroit’s Cobo Hall on June 7, 1986. The CD artwork features an attractive image of Prince, and the CD is in fine working order. From the collection of Prince’s assistant tour manager Gwen Leeds and accompanied by a letter of provenance. Before his 1986 birthday show, Prince placed an unexpected call to Charles Johnson, also known as The Electrifying Mojo, a Detroit disc jockey at WHYT who is credited with introducing Prince's music to the area airwaves. During the interview, Prince paid tribute to his Detroit fan base and informed Johnson about his upcoming film, Under the Cherry Moon. He also spoke about his motives for making music and revealed that he had over 300 finished unreleased songs in his vault. An insightful, casual conversation that illustrates the comfort Prince felt with the Detroit DJ, one of a scarce few media members Prince interviewed with during this period.
