There's just something about holding a piece of hand hewn treenware in your hands that makes you feel so connected with America's pioneers. This group of three consists of a spoon with a wide (4 1/2"), gently bent, slightly asymetrical bowl. The bowl has a small chunk out of the right lower edge and a split which extends about 2/3 of the way to the handle. On its handle the letters JHB seem to be stamped on. The second item is a narrow blade paddle--possibly for butter, or maybe it was an all purpose spatula. The star of this trio is the ladle. It is breath taking, and must have been made by a master turner. Its 4 1/2" bowl is perfect. The handle is satiny smooth and elegantly tapered to the bulb that fits snugly to the bowl. The sale of this item will benefit our local Hospice. They have a booth here in our mall where they sell the nicer things that are donated to them. Please visit our GoAntiques site to see the other items we have listed on behalf of this beloved charity.
