<td width="100%">
Primitive "Hand Forged Iron" Gate Or Door Latch Mechanism. This is a very unusual and rare piece of early iron hardware that was probably used as some type of gate or door latch mechanism. It is still in very good working order. The only indication of wear is on the impact surfaces of the "hook & anvil mechanism". It does have provision for a lock.

The latch mechanism itself measures approximately 9" long (from the bottom of the weight mechanism to the top of the thumb-release) by 2" wide. The mounting base measures approximately 6.5" high x 6" wide x 1/2" thick. It weighs approximately 3 to 4 pounds.
