Prewar German combination rifle/shotgun by Kettner of Suhl Germany, 16ga over 8x57mm rimmed, showing high quality prewar German manufacture and features, serial number “2968” The gun shows 23-1/2” barrels, is 39-7/8” overall. The receiver is nicely engraved and shows reinforced back to action with cocking indicators, set trigger on rifle barrel, horn trigger guard, base for claw-mounted scope, iron sights, selective extraction, cross bolt action, Krupp steel barrels, engraved pistol grip cap. The gun remains in very good to near fine condition with 90-95% original blue, 75-85% original case hardening drifting to silvery grey at the edges and bottom. The stocks are very good plus with sharp checkering, just normal handling, storage marks, and use. The action is tight, the bores are near bright. The rifle shows European type sling swivels. There is a small stamp behind the pistol grip cap showing a 5-pointed crown and the initials “J. C.”, which may be some sort of Suhl proof. A Pachmayr recoil pad has been added. The gun measures 13-3/4” from the front trigger to the end of the wood, approx. 14-3/4” to the end of the added rubber pad. Est.: $1,400-$2,800
