Manufactured in 1924. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address, The left side is marked "38 W.C.F." and the left side of the frame is marked with the two line, three patent dates followed by the Rampant Colt. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame, on the right side of the front and back straps under the grip and scratched into the inside of each grip panel. The assemblers number "3" is marked on the left upper front of the trigger guard above the Colt triangle "VP" proofmark. Standard blade front and frame notch rear sights, casehardened frame and hammer with blue on the remaining parts and fitted with two piece checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt in an oval at the top. The accompanying factory letter verifies the serial number, 38/40 caliber, barrel length, blue finish with grips as "Not Listed" and that it was shipped as 1 to Shapleigh Hardware Company, St. Louis, Missouri on November 1, 1924.

Condition: Fine. The revolver retains 60% plus original blue finish. There is smooth gray patina on the front portion of the left side of the barrel, on the outer edge of the ejector housing and on the high edges of the cylinder. The cylinder has areas thinning to brown and the grip straps have a smooth brownish patina with scattered thin original blue finish. The frame retains 40% original case colors, mainly in the protected areas with a smooth mottled gray and brown patina on the balance. The hammer also shows 40% original faded case colors with a smooth gray on the balance. The grips are very good with a few light pressure dents, a few minor dings and crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
