Presidential Signed Document to William Betts Keeler promoting him to Brevet Colonel, April 8, 1865, for conspicuous gallantry in the series of battles fought in the Red River Campaign of Gen. Banks, and in the late operations before Spanish Fort. Signed by President Andrew Johnson, and Edwin M. Stanton, Secretary of War. Document has been nicely decoupaged to wood plaque. Also included is a studio portrait of then-Lt. Col. Keeler, and a picture of his post-war home in Chicago. Document shows some toning prior to decoupage. Crisp studio portrait with very light soiling, and sun fading to homestead photo. Est.: $250-$500/lot.
